Covid-19 Protocols
Dentistry By Design has resumed time sensitive dental care in accordance to the mandates by the Louisiana Dental Board as of April 20, 2020 and recommendations of the CDC. My number one priority is the safety and health of my patients, teams members and all of our families. While this has always been the case, it is even more important during this global pandemic.
Here are the current protocols and what to expect at each dental appointment:
Every patient will be screened by telephone or text monitoring systems one business day prior to your dental visit. The front desk office staff will confirm your health, recent exposure to COVID19, and review the office policy. This communication will be noted in your dental record in the case of future audits by the Louisiana Dental Board. If you can not be reached that morning on the day before, the front desk staff must reschedule your appointment.
On time appointment arrivals are required. Unfortunately, late patients must be rescheduled. More time is needed between patients for disinfection. We must limit the number of people inside the facility. We can no longer use the waiting room when we run behind. If an emergency arises while you are enroute, please call the front desk as soon as possible to see what can be done.
We request that all visitors wear a face mask inside the office. We can provide one if you need one.
Patients must come alone. The exception is one parent or caregiver can accompany a minor or a person with a disability.
Upon arrival, we ask each patient to complete and sign a COVID-19 screening document. Some of the questions were asked via phone the day before, but it is a requirement from our state dental board. Your temperature will also be taken. Any patient or visitor showing a temperature above 100.4F will be rescheduled.
Patients will be asked to rinse with hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse before the start of treatment. This reduces the saliva viral load in aerosols created during treatment.
Dr. Amos and clinical team will be wearing additional personal protective equipment such as face shields, gowns, surgical caps.
Please know that we’ve worked extremely hard as a team to ensure the safety and wellbeing while in our care. I want to ensure that all new and existing patients are comfortable. As always, I appreciate your trust and ask for your understanding during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
